See Damian Light - Chair of the Howick Local Board, and Ruth White - General Manager of Business East Tamaki, explain how the Eastern Busway will enhance east Auckland and shape the future for local businesses.

Skyline changes - while you were sleeping

View a snapshot of eight large concrete beams being installed during three nights in February 2025 to form the span of Rā Hihi (flyover) above Tī Rākau Drive in Pakūranga. The logistics to place the beams safely and accurately required months of careful preparation and a sizeable team of specialists and equipment to ensure every part of the complex sequence went smoothly.
New Zealand’s largest mobile crane lifting the spans ran on 100% hydrogenated vegetable oil instead of diesel for this work, reducing its carbon emissions by 70%.

Wrapping up 2024

Matt Zame is the project director of the Eastern Busway Alliance and wraps up the year with special thanks to everyone who’s helping the busway to grow. See Matt’s message and a fly-through of the project in this video

Beneath the Eastern Busway

Building the busway involves extensive work under the road first to improve the Hunua 2 watermain, install a new Transpower pole and new stormwater drainage. Check out the latest video featuring two of the project’s leaders and some of the new utilities.

Meet the team

Eastern Busway site engineer Neha Raphael set out to study psychology and is now involved in building Rā Hihi (flyover) above Reeves Road in Pakūranga. Neha and Senior Project Engineer Max van der Maas show us the impressive structure taking shape in east Auckland.
